Kin Marie
Kin Marie is a Chicago-based filmmaker and colorist native to the South Side Chicago, and the co-founder of the boutique production house Brain Studios. Their current practice centers the visual culture of both queer and afro-surrealism, exploring their social implications while considering how these ideologies can serve as a blueprint for cultural growth from both mundane and interpretive perspectives. Awarded Chicago's Best Filmmaker of 2023 by the Chicago Reader, Marie leverages visual media as a conduit for critical research and experimentation, examining the intersections between art, mediation, and social space.
